Coming Events at Little Buffalo State Park


Sat. Oct. 6th The Little Buffalo Festival near Newport celebrates 35 years of good times this fall. Produced by The Buffaloes and sponsored by Perry County Council of the Arts, the event is located at the East end of the park at 1579 State Park Road, near the dam breast of Holman Lake.

Enjoy live music on three stages, surrounded by the natural beauty of Little Buffalo State Park. Little Buffalo Festival also offers arts & crafts activities for kids, poetry readings, workshops and demonstrations, great food and more. Admission is free but donations are graciously accepted. Parking is ample and convenient. Visitors who enjoy nature and exercise are encouraged to park in the west lot and walk the Fisherman's Trail.

Sat. Oct. 20th & Sun. Oct. 21st – 10am-3pm- - Old Fashioned Apple Festival - Join the Park Staff and Friends of Little Buffalo for our annual Apple Festival! Enjoy demonstrations of corn grinding and apple pressing, music, sample apple cider & apple butter, and take home some stone-ground corn meal.  Activities are available for all ages, and our cake walk is scheduled for 1pm on Saturday. Sat. Oct. 27th – 7-9:30pm - Halloween Hay Rides - Dare to be scared? Held at the Park's Swimming Pool Area, this Halloween event is brought to you by Little Buffalo State Park in conjunction with The Friends of Little Buffalo. These hayrides are the park's most popular single day event and are a fun Halloween tradition in Perry County. Donations for the hayrides are accepted and large groups attending should notify the park by phoning the park office. The Friends of Little Buffalo and the New Bloomfield Lions Club will be selling refreshments as you wait for your wagon ride. Hayrides begin at approximately 7:00 pm.

*Attention – Please be advised that the gate to the area will be closed at 8:30pm. No entry to the event will be permitted after 8:30pm. Volunteers are needed to scare visitors - call the park office at 717-567-9255 or email us at for more information.



Dec. 17-23rd -6-9pm - The Little Buffalo Christmas Trail is brought to you by Little Buffalo State Park, in conjunction with The Friends of Little Buffalo. Meet Santa in the woods and enjoy the thousands of lights and holiday displays located along this quarter mile trail in the park's East Picnic Area. Enjoy live music at the stage, and hot chocolate and cookies sold by local 4H groups in the warming hut. This is a free program. Please bring a flashlight, the parking areas are dark.
