Position Title: Cook (Part-time) Department: Prison
Reports To: Business Manager
Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position is to provide part-time coverage for the operation of the kitchen, preparing meals for inmates and staff while maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.
* Prepares and serves meals to inmates and staff per scheduled
* Maintains sanitation of trays, utensils, pans, etc.
* Maintains sanitation of kitchen area (i.e. floors, walls, equipment, ceiling, stoves,
refrigeration units, etc.)
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
High School graduate or GED certificate, three months food preparation or similar experience. Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
Minimum Physical and Mental Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
Ability to operate a variety of commercial food preparation equipment including stove, oven, grill, slicer, food processor, mixer, etc.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
Language Ability and Interpersonal Communication
Ability to comprehend and interpret a variety of documents including commitments and release paper, court records, probation documents, medical records, daily logs, misconduct & incident reports, policy & procedures, etc.
Ability to prepare a variety of documents using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style
Ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures and follow instructions
Ability to communicate effectively with prison staff, police officers, sheriff deputies, medical personnel, attorneys, probation staff, volunteers and inmates (verbally)
Ability to work effectively in a prison environment.
